DESCRIPTION:
Graduate Assistant in Marketing and Communications
Reports to: Digital and Social Media Marketing Specialist
Available Start: August 2026
JOB SUMMARY:
The Graduate Assistant is an active contributor to the Marketing and Communications team (Marcomm) and assists in executing a wide range of marketing and communications activities. This role provides hands-on experience in higher education marketing and communications and requires availability for regular office hours as well as occasional evenings and weekends to cover campus events.
Will receive 50% tuition remission.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Create, plan and publish content across all digital platforms that elevates the college’s digital presence, engages key audiences and achieves stated outreach goals.
- Develop and maintain social media content calendar, including planned collabs; manage audience engagement and feedback loops to enhance visibility.
- Stay informed on emerging trends that support growth and strengthen audience engagement; maintain a keen understanding of campus culture and events.
- Work closely with Bison Influencers student team and manage planned growth.
- Provide content for the new Nichols website (www.nichols.edu), ensuring site is current, engaging, and aligned with brand guidelines and certain best practices.
- Work closely with campus partners on a wide variety of marketing projects.
- Familiarity with photography and/or videography and Adobe Creative Cloud (PhotoShop, Illustrator, Acrobat Pro, Premiere, etc.) is preferred, but not required.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be enrolled in a graduate degree program at Nichols College
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and projects.
Strong working knowledge of social media platforms (e.g., Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, Facebook, etc.) and tools (e.g., Sprout Social)
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability and desire to work closely with students and colleagues across campus
PHYSICAL JOB COMPONENTS:
Able to use office and telecommunication equipment
Light to moderate lifting of files, supplies and office materials
