Role Description
The Electronic Resources Librarian supervises the Serials department and manages the Library’s electronic and print subscriptions, which account for a large portion of the Library’s budget. This position monitors usage statistics for all titles and collaborates with the Library Director and Technical Services Department. This person must have good time management, communication, and organizational skills, as well as a strong ability to think critically. A high level of technical computer skills is also required. This person must be able to work independently and to establish priorities for the ongoing work of the position and the Serials department. This position monitors annual increases for each title and makes recommendations to the Library Director on renewals. The duties also include updating and maintaining access to electronic resources and resolving issues related to the acquisition and renewal of databases and print subscriptions with respective vendors and publishers. This position coordinates the Library’s initiatives on OER’s (Open Education Resources), web/digital accessibility compliance with federal and state regulations, scholarly communication (graduate theses/repository, copyright, faculty publication assistance, etc.), and emerging technologies, such as AI. As a tenure-track librarian, this position also fulfills requirements for tenure and librarianship duties including but not limited to providing liaison duties, collection development, and instruction to our College of Business.
Qualifications
Required Minimum Qualifications:
● Working knowledge of the management and acquisition of electronic resources and print subscriptions including licensing practices.
● Working knowledge of the delivery of research assistance and Library instruction.
● Ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of library patrons, vendors and staff.
● Supervision experience.
● Knowledge of trends and issues affecting academic libraries, especially regarding affordable learning, AI, and accessibility.
● Minimum education: MLIS or MLS from an ALA-accredited program.
Preferred Experience
● Experience with and knowledge of current best practices in acquisition and management of electronic resources and print serial subscriptions.
● Experience working with vendors and publishers.
● Experience managing employees in a library setting.
● Experience using and publishing OER’s.
● Experience with reference and instruction in a library setting.
● Working knowledge of Alma and OCLC.
● Fluency in the application of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).
● Fluency in the application of AI trends and AI-driven technologies, especially in higher education.
● Undergraduate or graduate degree in a business discipline or work experience in a business-related field.
