Job responsibilities/description
- Comfortable working in a specialty office: Periodontics
- Comfortable with administering local anesthesia (intra-oral nerve block and infiltration injections)
- Scaling and root planing
- Exams
- Periodontal maintenances/Adult prophylaxis
- X-rays
- Applying fluoride
- Patient education (Oral hygiene instructions, Periodontitis, etc)
- Help and assistance with charting incorporated
- Completing treatment notes
- All basic instruments and equipment will be provided
- About 6-7 patients per day depending upon procedures
- Looking for quality of care rather than high production
- Other treatments related to dental hygiene
- Help in other areas of the dental office when needed, but primary focus will be hygiene

Schedule
- Work days: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and possible Saturdays
- 8am - 5pm with lunch from 12pm - 1pm
- Occasional make up days
Compensation
- Starting $45/hour
Education/licensure
- Diploma or proper certificate of graduation from a dental hygiene school accredited by the American Dental Association Commission on Dental Accreditation that requires at least a two year course and is recognized by the board of dental examiners
- Officially certified in the administration of intra-oral infiltration local anesthesia and intra-oral block anesthesia by an accredited dental hygiene school or by a certification program previously approved by the board
- Passed the National Board Dental Hygiene Examination
- Passed the State of Hawaii examination or one of the following four regional clinical examinations: Western Regional Examining Board, Central Regional Dental Testing Service, Inc., Southern Regional Testing Agency, Inc., or North East Regional Board of Dental Examiners, Inc.

Expected hours: 32.0 – 40.0 per week
