Overview

The Executive Director is the full‑time chief executive responsible for ensuring the mission, vision, and strategic plan of the Nicholas County Intervention Coalition (NIC) are achieved. This role provides organizational leadership, oversees programs and operations, and advances a public‑health approach to substance use prevention through strong community partnerships.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead organizational planning, capacity building, and implementation of NIC programs.
  • Work closely with the Executive Committee to develop goals, strategies, action steps, and timelines.
  • Develop fundraising plans, prepare grant proposals, and represent NIC to funders and donors.
  • Oversees the NIC Project Coordinator and all additional personnel as designated by the Executive Committee.
  • Maintain strong community visibility and relationships with stakeholders, partners, and local leaders.
  • Oversee marketing, outreach, and communication, including social media.
  • Collect, maintain, and report data related to youth substance use and community trends.
  • Serves on Executive Committee Financial Subcommittee to prepare the annual budget and presentation at the annual meeting
  • Responsible for fiscal management that generally anticipates operating within the approved budget, ensures maximum resource utilization, and maintenance of the organization in a positive financial position
  • Ensure timely submission of required financial and organizational reports to maintain 501(c)(3) compliance.

Coalition Development

  • Organize and facilitate coalition meetings, membership growth, and partner engagement.
  • Plan community events aligned with NIC’s mission.
  • Conduct and support community needs assessments, surveys, and data analysis.
  • Stay informed on best practices and emerging trends in substance use prevention.

· Partners with the Executive Committee and members to develop organizational plans for the coalition and the community at large – organizes and facilitates strategic planning for the organization

  • Collaborate with other West Virginia coalitions and pursue joint initiatives.

Other duties as assigned by the NIC Executive Committee.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership, integrity, and commitment to community‑based prevention.
  • Strong program development, facilitation, and organizational skills.
  • Experience in managing projects.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with data collection and evaluation.

Preferred Skills

  • Strong administrative, grant‑writing, fundraising, and networking abilities.
  • Effective group facilitation and decision‑making skills.
  • Proven success in planning and implementing strategic initiatives.
  • History of generating new revenue.

Hours: Full‑time, 40 hours/week
Supervision: Reports to the NIC Executive Committee

Pay: $55,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
