Job Summary
Banquet Captain to be responsible for the successful setup, execution, and breakdown of all banquet and event functions. The Banquet Captain leads frontline staff, ensures service standards are met, and acts as the primary point of contact between the management team, kitchen, and service team while ensuring the timely and accurate services of food and beverage for clubhouse events and external bookings.
Specific Duties
1. Receives and greets members and guests.
2. Coordinates food service between kitchen and service staff as needed.
3. Inspects all linens daily for proper appearance.
4. Maintains all banquet silver ware, chinaware, glassware, and banquet displays.
5. Resolves member and guest complaints.
6. Trains, supervises and evaluates banquet service staff.
7. Oversee the setup, execution, and breakdown of all events according to specific banquet event orders, visual arrangements, and timelines.
8. Suggests dining room decoration for special themes.
9. Assures that pre-opening cleaning tasks are assigned and completed as required.
10. Assist with service of food and beverages in outlets and for special functions when needed.
11. Assists with table clearing and re-setting as needed.
12. Suggest when additional service supplies and small equipment are needed.
13. Enforces established rules, regulations, and policies.
14. May serve as club’s opening or closing manager or manager on duty.
15. Conducts pre-service employee briefings (line-up meetings) in absence of Banquet and Event Manager.
16. Coordinates any special request including dietary needs with the executive chef and event coordinator.
17. Completes other appropriate assignments made by the Banquet Manager.
18. Ensures that all banquet staff are well groomed and in proper uniform (including name tags).
19. Acts as head server at special, private functions and may greet and seat guests as necessary.
20. Assures the neatness, cleanliness and safety of all banquet areas.
21. Assures that banquet event closing procedures are followed.
Reports to: Banquet and Event Manager
Supervises: Banquet Wait staff
Education/ Experience/ Skills: High School, 2-3 years of experience in similar position.
Physical Requirements: Walking, talking, standing, sitting, occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.
Pay: $18.00 - $19.00 per hour
