Work Schedule: Typically, Monday through Friday, 7:00 am to 5:00 pm. Hours may vary based on workload.
Purpose of Position:
The Diesel Technician position is responsible for truck and trailer repair and maintenance as directed by Shop Supervisor. The Diesel Technician will be in complete support of and willing adherence to NHT’s mission, vision and core values and hold these standards as his/her own.
Essential Skills:
The Diesel Technician will have to spend possible long hours standing and possible heavy lifting, up to 50 lbs. Vision requirements include close, distance, and color vision, as well as the ability to adjust focus. Ability to walk, bend, kneel, push, and work in confined spaces for extended periods. Ability to work in various conditions. NHT Logistics, Inc can be a busy facility, and the Diesel Technician may have to manage a number of projects at one time and may be interrupted frequently to meet the needs and requests of other mechanics and the Shop Supervisor. The Diesel Technician may find the environment to be busy, noisy and will need excellent organizational and time and stress management skills to complete the required tasks.
Travel: Diesel Technician may have to travel to occasional road service calls.

- Diagnose and repair trailer refrigeration units.
- Inspect equipment to identify and address safety concerns.
- Develop proficiency in fleet management software.
- Accurately document work performed and repairs completed.
- Properly and safely operate hand tools and shop equipment.
- Safely use lifting equipment and jack stands.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Adapt to changing schedules and respond to emergency repair needs.
- Work independently while performing shop duties.
- Learn and apply new service, maintenance, and repair procedures.
- Participate in an on-call rotation approximately every 3-4 weeks as determined by Shop Manager.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Ability to read and interpret maintenance instructions, operating procedures, and technical manuals.
- Strong commitment to workplace safety and health standards.
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent preferred.
- Previous mechanic experience preferred.
- Basic knowledge of diesel and trailer mechanics.
- Ability to use hand tools, diagnostic equipment, and precision measuring tools effectively.
