At MFT, our vision is simple: to improve the health and wellbeing of the people and communities we serve. We do this by delivering world-class care, pioneering research and innovation, and supporting our workforce to thrive. 

Our values guide every decision we make – from how we care for patients to how we treat each other as colleagues. They are not just words on a page: they shape how we work every day. 

We are compassionate

Because we are compassionate we will…

• Care about people, focusing on the needs of all our patients and staff
• Reduce our impact on the environment.

How we live this value: Our teams take time to listen to patients and colleagues, showing empathy and respect. We prioritise sustainable practices in everything from procurement to waste management. We actively recruit from and invest in our local community, recognising our role as an anchor institution in Greater Manchester. 

We are curious

Because we are curious we will…

• Use digital technology and other innovations to improve the way we work for patients and our colleagues.
• Use data, insight and evidence to inform the way we deliver services and make decisions.
  
  

How we live this value: We pilot new digital tools and research projects and evaluate services based on real evidence. Curiosity drives our improvement culture – we continually seek better ways of working for the benefit of our patients. 

We are collaborative

Because we are collaborative we will…

• Involve patients and our communities in the planning and delivery our services.
• Work together as one team across MFT.
• Work together with partners across Greater Manchester.
• Use our influence locally and nationally to the benefit of our patients, our communities and our partners.
  
  

How we live this value: We co-design services with patient groups, support cross-site working, and build strong relationships within our local communities.   

We are open and honest

Because we are open and honest we will…

• Listen and respond to feedback from staff, patients, communities and partners.
• Celebrate our successes.
• Be honest about where things can be better and share learning to make improvements.
  
  

How we live this value: We welcome feedback through from our staff, patients and stakeholders. We share achievements openly and also acknowledge when things don’t go as planned, using lessons learned to drive change and improve care. 

We are inclusive

Because we are inclusive we will…

• Address health inequalities, ensuring everyone can get the care they need and the best possible outcomes whatever their identity or background.
• Build a diverse workforce at all levels in which everyone can belong, and which reflects the people who use our services, helping us to deliver better care and build trust with our communities.
  
  

How we live this value: We actively monitor and address disparities in health outcomes, adapt services to meet the diverse needs of Manchester and Trafford, and create an inclusive workplace through recruitment, training and staff networks.
