What are the responsibilities and job description for the Deputy Charge Nurse position at NHS Ayrshire & Arran?
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Deputy Charge Nurse position within Loch View, for a highly motivated and experienced RNLD with relevant leadership experience.
The post is based within the in-patient learning disability services and is a clinical leadership post and as such the post holder will be expected to promote the philosophy of care within the service, display expert nursing skills, be aware of current trends in learning disability nursing and promote innovative practice. The post holder will be responsible for the assessment of care needs, the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care and the setting of standards of care. The post holder will work in partnership with users, carers, families and a range of agencies.
Under the direction of the Senior Charge Nurse the post holder will contribute to management of the three in-patient units and work closely as a member of the senior management team with other team members. The post holder will be required to support and deputise for the Senior Charge Nurse and also take part in the senior nurse on-call rota with support.

As from 1/4/26, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will be reducing from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part time hours will be reduced pro-rata. However, there will be a corresponding increase in the hourly rate so that pay will not be affected.
