Our flagship overnight summer program, Camp Gottalikachallenge, is an exhilarating, hands-on journey where campers learn to transform challenges into opportunities. We are seeking a director who can empower and inspire, celebrating the effort of our campers and staff and fostering a community where every individual has a place.
As the Camp Director, you will be the visionary leader who brings the Camp Gottalikachallenge experience to life. This is more than a management role; it's an opportunity to empower and inspire both campers and staff. You will be responsible for architecting an inclusive, supportive environment where every camper feels they have a place to explore, create, and grow.
Visionary Program & Curriculum Design
- Enhance an existing camp curriculum that transforms problem solving into an exhilarating, hands-on journey.
- Establish and enforce safety protocols that give campers the confidence to explore and create fearlessly.
- Oversee the design and ordering of camp merchandise that reflects our creative spirit.
Strategic & Operational Leadership
- Secure host site contracts, confirming dates and operational requirements.
- Develop and manage the camp budget in accordance with Board approval.
- Manage all camper registrations and payments through the CampBrain platform.
- Process and evaluate applications for financial assistance with an eye toward accessibility and inclusion.
- Purchase or secure all necessary supplies to ensure a seamless and impactful camp experience.
Inspiring Team & Community Leadership
- Lead the recruitment, selection, and training of a diverse and passionate camp staff.
- Communicate frequently with camper families to foster confidence and support.
- Provide direct oversight and mentorship, fostering a collaborative and empowering environment.
- Manage camper paperwork and unique needs with care, ensuring every camper is set up for success.
- Proven experience in camp management, youth program leadership, or a similar role.
- A belief in the power of the creative process and a passion for empowering young innovators.
- Strong communication skills across multiple mediums (slack, email, in person, etc.)
- Demonstrated ability to recruit, train, and mentor staff effectively.
- Ability to foster an inclusive, open, and inspiring community for campers and staff from diverse backgrounds.
- Excellent organizational skills, with a talent for turning a vision into a well executed plan.
- Must be able to pass a background check.
The total base compensation for this contract position is $6,200, paid in milestones. An additional registration growth bonus of $25 per camper will be awarded for total registrations exceeding 78 campers.
