Job Title: Surgical Insurance Verification Specialist
Department: Orthopaedic Associates , North Florida Surgeons
Location: Crestview, FL
Job Summary:
The Surgical insurance verification specialist is responsible for obtaining verification of all insurance benefits, specifically surgical, and maintains that information to reflect the most up to date coverage. Works closely with the Surgical Care Coordinators, insurance companies and patients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accurate verification of all insurance benefits and entry of new or updated insurance information of patient accounts
- Verify if patients have active referrals and coordinating with appropriate departments if one is needed
- Work closely with surgeon’s team to discuss past due balances, credits owed and capture up-to-date benefit coverage for surgery patients
- Review patient accounts and insurance profiles to guarantee accuracy
- Review upcoming surgery schedule for eligibility errors
- Collect patient surgical prepayments
- Always maintain HIPPA compliance and patient confidentiality
- Any other job duties as assigned
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Insurance verification knowledge
- Customer Service Experience
- Ability to navigate numerous insurance portals
- Demonstrates attention to detail
- Excellent oral & written communication & analytical skills
- Requires adherence to all policies and procedures, including standards for safety, attendance, punctuality and personal appearance
- Ability to multi-task efficiently and effectively, remain calm in busy or stressful situations and work well with minimal supervision
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 1-2 years of relevant experience
- Experience with EMR software preferred – Athena
- Experience with Microsoft applications – Word, Excel, Office 365
- Experience with Insurance portals
