Overview
The Payroll Tax & Controls Manager is responsible for payroll tax compliance, payroll audit and controls, payroll analysis, and payroll system support. This role partners closely with the Payroll Director to ensure payroll is accurate, compliant, and well controlled, and to drive resolution of payroll issues and process improvements.
In office 5 days a week in Camden NJ.

Responsibilities
- Manage payroll tax compliance across federal, state, and local jurisdictions.
- Oversee tax setup, filings, notices, amendments, and year-end reporting.
- Lead pre- and post-payroll audits, reconciliations, and exception review.
- Develop and maintain payroll controls to improve accuracy and reduce risk.
- Support payroll system configuration, testing, and issue resolution.
- Analyze payroll issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
- Partner with Payroll, HR, HRIS, Finance, Accounting, Operations, and third-party providers to improve payroll processes and compliance.
- Provide reporting, analysis, and guidance to support payroll leadership.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred in Accounting, Finance, Business, HR, or related field.
- 7 years of payroll experience, including payroll tax, audit, compliance, and systems support.
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll tax requirements.
- Experience with payroll controls, reconciliations, and payroll issue resolution.
- Experience with payroll systems such as Workday, UKG, or similar.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
