DOD Skillbridge Requirements And Eligibility
The DOD Skillbridge Program is designed for military service members who are in their last 180 days of military service, transitioning out, and preparing to re-enter civilian life with the goal of entering the civilian workforce.
The Diesel Technician Skillbridge Program is an intensive 120-150 day training experience that will give you the opportunities to become an expert in the field and work on tractors and trailers that are all company owned.
- Must be within 180 days of transition from military service (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard)
- Received Unit Commander (first O-4/Field Grade commander in chain of command) written authorization and approval to participate in DoD SkillBridge Program prior to start of internship
- Open to all qualified transitioning active-duty U.S. service members, both officer and enlisted, of any rank and branch
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair electrical and mechanical tractor and trailer-related issues using standard testing procedures and computer diagnostic equipment such as JPRO, OEM Diagnostic Software, Multimeters, and Windows
- Performance preventive maintenance on our fleet of tractors & trailers
- Perform DOT inspection per FMSCA guidelines
- Physically capable to perform all job duties, which includes being able to lift and/or pull 75 lbs or more without restriction, stand or lie for extended periods, and have flexible movement to reach equipment.
- Must have a valid driver's license
- Preferred ability to obtain a Class B license
- General Maintenance Experience
- Successfully demonstrated problem-solving skills
- Examples of teamwork and customer service skills include good oral and written communication skills.
