The Corporate Accountant is responsible for performing essential accounting functions for NFI’s Shared Services departments, including HR, IT, Sales, Risk/Safety, and other administrative functions. This position reports to the Director of Finance - Payroll/Shared Services and plays a critical role in ensuring accurate financial data, timely reconciliations, and effective cost allocation across NFI's operational divisions.
Responsibilities
Accounting Functions:
- Performs bank reconciliations for shared services and payroll accounts, ensuring accurate recording and classification of transactions.
- Performs monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing processes, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
- Prepares and reviews allocations of shared service expenses to operational divisions, ensuring accuracy and proper cost distribution.
- Maintains accurate financial records and supports the preparation of financial reports for shared services departments.
- Manages the preparation of tax filings and reconciliations, including payroll tax reporting and compliance.
- Prepares and maintains audit documentation for shared services transactions, supporting both internal and external audit processes.
- Develops and monitors financial metrics and reports, identifying trends and variances for management review.
Light Payroll Support (Backup Duties):
- Provides backup support for payroll processing as needed, including employee record updates, manual check processing, and timesheet verification.
- Assists with resolving payroll discrepancies and ensuring accurate employee compensation data.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
- At least two to four years of experience in accounting required and payroll background preferred.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and accounting software, Workday preferred.
- Knowledge of payroll regulations and general accounting principles.
