Hiring Fiber Splicer Trainee
Job Summary:
Our team provides telecom construction services and we are looking for a Fiber Splicer Trainee to join our team. Fiber Splicers perform tasks associated with both aerial and underground construction. Both splicing and hanging of fiber optic cable.
Job Responsibilities:
* Read and interpret work orders to determine work to be done in sequence of task.
* Repair or splice in new line as needed to complete the testing of the project.
* Install splice enclosures, and term panels.
* Splice and activate underground and aerial lines.
* Utilize light meters and OTDR accurately.
* Learn how to safely utilize bucket trucks and ladders to place cables on utility poles per system design.
* Close a project by uploading photos and verifying proper levels after activation, adjust and troubleshoot, as necessary.
* Ensure that all work considers the safety of the customer, public and compliance with all governmental orders.
* Perform additional duties and tasks as required by the company.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
* A positive attitude and openness to trying things new ways.
* Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
* Possess a valid driver's license
* Able to work both individually and in a team environment.
* Able to communicate professionally
* Able to lift and/or pull up to 80 pounds several times a day.
* Must be able to use hand tools such as screw drivers, pliers, drills, and wrenches.
* Must be able to differentiate between the different colored fibers.
* Must have a working smartphone.
* Have a high school diploma or equivalent.
Starting Pay is 20/hr in training. After completion we will discuss a raise based on production. Training takes approximately 3 months.
