Associate Underwriter

Nexus Specialty Inc. is seeking an Associate Underwriter to join our growing team!

The underwriter will play a key role working with the product leader to help grow a profitable book of Product Recall & Contamination business for companies in the larger middle market and corporates segment. The underwriter will take an active part in the development and implementation of an underwriting strategy that identifies profitable market opportunities and broker relationships.

How You Will Contribute:

• Underwrite, manage and develop a book of primary and excess renewal business on current product recall & contamination products.
• Partner with the product leader to review and manage overall book performance and production results.
• Analyze risks and book of business results to manage and control underwriting exposure and pricing strategy consistent with MGA/carrier objectives.
• Manage retail and wholesale broker relationships nationwide.
• Travel to existing and prospective brokers to encourage new business production.
• Represent Nexus at networking functions and other industry-related events.
• Cultivate and maintain relationships within and outside Nexus to develop US specialty presence.
• Develop and expand the renewal book of business for the middle market and corporate sector.
• Other duties as assigned

Skills & Experience to be Successful:

• Bachelor's degree and 1 years insurance or internship experience.
• Demonstrates significant contribution to underwriting profit.
• Independent decision maker – takes full responsibility for making decisions and consequences associated with decisions.
• Continually seeks opportunities for portfolio growth and potential wholesale broker opportunities.
