Job Overview:
Nexus IT Services is a managed IT provider serving businesses across the Treasure Coast. We are hiring a field technician to handle our onsite installation and infrastructure work.
The bulk of this job is network and low-voltage build-outs for commercial clients, often new office spaces, warehouses, and suites. You will run and terminate cable, mount and wire network racks, and install switches, access points, wireless, cameras, and access control systems. ou will also troubleshoot network and connectivity issues onsite and handle bench work between projects, including firewall and hardware preconfiguration, imaging, and equipment staging.
This position is fully field based and in the office. You will be working at client sites daily, managing your own schedule through a PSA and dispatch while coordinating with our Tier 3 technicians for installs. We expect a technician who works cleanly, communicates clearly with clients, and delivers professional results without needing to be managed through every step.
Responsibilities:
- Run, terminate, and test CAT5e/CAT6 cable, including punch downs, RJ45 crimping, patch panels, and tone and trace
- Mount and wire network racks with clean, organized cable management
- Install and configure switches, access points, wireless, firewalls, cameras, and access control systems
- Troubleshoot network, video, phone, and internet issues on client equipment
- Scope projects onsite and work with the team to build accurate quotes and material lists
- Handle bench work between projects, including hardware and firewall preconfiguration, imaging, and staging equipment for deployment
- Log work and time in our PSA system and maintain accurate documentation
- Communicate professionally with clients onsite and by phone
- Follow safe work practices, including ladder safety and safe driving
Requirements:
- 2 years of experience installing and troubleshooting low-voltage cable and network hardware
- Solid understanding of networking fundamentals, including switching, wireless, and IP troubleshooting
- Comfortable working independently and managing your own time on a job site
- Proficient with hand and power tools, ladders, and working at height
- Able to lift 50 lbs and work in tight spaces such as above ceilings
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Clean background check
- Professional communication skills and a high standard for quality work
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ubiquiti, Cisco, Meraki, CompTIA, or Microsoft certifications
- Experience with camera and access control platforms
- Experience with a PSA or ticketing system (ConnectWise, Autotask, HaloPSA, or similar)
- MSP background or experience in regulated environments such as healthcare/HIPAA
