Position Summary

The Clinical Educator will play a key role in developing, implementing, and evaluating educational programs aimed at enhancing the clinical knowledge and competencies of nursing staff. This position is responsible for fostering a supportive learning environment that promotes professional development and excellence in care. Additionally, the Clinical Educator will serve as the lead clinical facilitator for the onboarding and orientation of newly hired staff, while also providing ongoing guidance and support as a clinical resource.

  • Service

oIntegrate clinical performance data into educational planning to improve care delivery.

oPromote the use of clinical guidelines and protocols to standardize and elevate care.

oPromote a culture of lifelong learning and professional development across the organization.

oParticipate in strategic planning to align educational initiatives with organizational goals.

oServe as a liaison between clinical staff and leadership to ensure alignment of practice and education.

oConduct needs assessments to identify areas of improvement in clinical practice, ensuring that the educational programs meet the specific needs of nursing staff and address gaps in clinical competencies.

oFacilitate interprofessional collaboration to enhance team-based care and service delivery.

oDesign, develop, and deliver evidence-based educational programs that meet the needs of various learning styles.

oContinuously assess the effectiveness of educational initiatives through learner feedback, outcome measures, and performance data.

  • Patient Experience and Advocacy

oAdvocate for patient-centered care through staff education and role modeling.

oEducate staff on communication strategies that enhance patient satisfaction and trust.

oPromote cultural competence and health equity through targeted educational initiatives.

oSupport initiatives that empower patients and families in the care process.

  • Quality Assurance and Compliance

oEnsures all activities adhere to healthcare regulations and organizational policies.

oParticipates in quality improvement initiatives to enhance service delivery.

oPromotes a culture of patient safety which results in the identification and reduction of unsafe practices.

oCollaborate with quality and risk management teams to address performance gaps through education.

oEnsure documentation of educational activities meets accreditation and audit standards.

oParticipate in root cause analyses and use findings to inform educational interventions.

oMonitor compliance with mandatory training and regulatory updates.

  • Professional Growth and Continuing Education

oCompletes annual education requirements.

oMaintains competency, as evidenced by completion of competency validation requirements.

oMaintains competency and knowledge of current standards of practice, trends, and developments.

oParticipates in relevant workshops, seminars, and continuing education courses to stay current with industry trends, healthcare regulations, and best practices.

oMentor staff in career development and leadership pathways.

oSupport staff participation in professional organizations and conferences.

  • Finance:

oPromotes stewardship of hospital resources while ensuring quality patient care.

oDemonstrate return on investment (ROI) for educational programs through outcome tracking.

oOptimize resource utilization by leveraging technology and blended learning models.

oReduce turnover and recruitment costs through effective onboarding and retention strategies.

oAlign educational initiatives with financial goals by improving efficiency and reducing errors.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or a related field preferred.

Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years of clinical nursing experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Prior experience in clinical education, training, or a similar role preferred.

Skills And Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of adult learning principles and instructional design.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to evaluate and assess educational outcomes.
  • Proficiency in the use of learning management systems and other educational technologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Licensure/Certification

  • Current unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Texas.
  • Board Certification in Nursing Professional Development (NPD-BC) preferred.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) from American Heart Association//American Red Cross required, must be valid for a minimum of 6 months from date of hire.
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) from American Heart Association//American Red Cross required, must be valid for a minimum of 6 months from date of hire, per unit requirement.
  • Behavioral management and de-escalation training within 30 days after hire.
  • PALS preferred.
  • Must maintain current certification in good standing during employment with this facility.
