POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
The Assistant Mental Health Technician (MHT) Manager supports the Mental Health Technician Manager in supervising, training, and coordinating the activities of the MHT team. The Assistant MHT Manager plays a vital role in onboarding new staff, orienting new residents, maintaining staffing coverage, and ensuring high-quality, trauma-informed care within a residential behavioral health treatment center for adolescents.

Staff Training and Preceptorship
- Act as a preceptor for all newly hired Mental Health Technicians and Lead Mental Health Technicians, providing structured orientation and support during onboarding.
- Assist with the continued education and ongoing training of all MHT staff under the direction of the MHT Manager.
- Conduct initial orientation for all new residents upon admission, including introducing residents to facility rules, daily schedules, behavioral expectations, and therapeutic milieu structure.
- Support special projects, safety initiatives, and residential events as assigned.
- Provide oversight and direction to MHTs and Lead MHTs when the MHT Manager is off-site or unavailable.
- Address immediate staffing, resident care, and milieu management needs as they arise.
- Complete the weekly MHT schedule, considering staff availability, preferences, and program needs.
- Coordinate coverage for callouts, unscheduled absences, and PTO to ensure 24/7 staffing coverage.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Services, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Mental Health Technician or similar position in a behavioral health setting, with demonstrated leadership ability preferred.
- Knowledge of Texas HHSC licensing standards and Joint Commission Behavioral Health standards required.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed care and adolescent behavioral health principles.
- Strong understanding of therapeutic milieu management and behavioral intervention techniques.
