Job description:
NextGen Industries is seeking a qualified professional to support and strengthen our UL listed control panel operations. This role is intended for an individual with direct experience in a UL-listed panel shop environment and a strong understanding of industrial control panel design, compliance, documentation, and production support.
An degree in Electrical Engineering is preferred, but not required. Equivalent practical experience in the UL panel shop / industrial controls environment will be strongly considered.
This position will support panel shop operations through a combination of UL compliance oversight, design review, technical support, quality control, and production coordination.
Primary ResponsibilitiesUL Compliance / Technical Oversight
- Support and maintain compliance with UL508A and, where applicable, UL698
- Maintain panel shop standards, documentation, and inspection readiness
- Review panel designs for UL compliance, constructability, and quality
- Assist with SCCR determination, component selection, labeling, and required documentation
- Ensure proper use of UL Recognized / Listed components
- Support interpretation and application of UL, NEC, and industrial control panel standards
Design / Engineering Support of:
- Electrical schematics
- Panel layouts
- Power distribution drawings
- I/O drawings
- Wiring diagrams
- Bills of material
- Nameplate / labeling packages
- Support panel designs for industrial automation, oil & gas, water / wastewater, and remote instrumentation applications
- Improve design consistency and reduce engineering-to-production rework
Shop / Production / Quality Support
- Support panel technicians and shop personnel during production builds
- Resolve design, constructability, and field-fit issues
- Improve standard work, QC checklists, and panel release processes
- Support final inspections, FAT preparation, and quality documentation
- Assist in improving panel build efficiency, consistency, and quality
Preferred QualificationsRequired / Strongly Preferred
- Experience in or supporting a UL Listed Panel Shop
- Strong working knowledge of UL508A
- Familiarity with industrial control panel design and fabrication
- Ability to read and interpret:
- Electrical schematics
- One-lines
- Control drawings
- Loop drawings
- Panel layouts
- Practical knowledge of:
- Circuit protection
- Relays/contactors
- PLC-based systems
- VFDs
- Terminal and power distribution design
Highly Preferred
- Experience with UL698 and/or Class I, Division 2 panel requirements
- Experience with AutoCAD Electrical
- Experience with Rockwell / Allen-Bradley and industrial automation systems
- Experience in oil & gas, water, industrial automation, and OEM equipment
- Experience with panel shop QA/QC systems
- Familiarity with UL inspections and listing requirements
- Understanding of SCCR calculations and component coordination
Education / Background
One or more of the following is preferred:
- Electrical Engineering degree
- Engineering Technology degree
- Journeyman / Master Electrician with strong panel shop experience
- Equivalent experience in a UL listed industrial control panel environment
