The Opportunity
We’re seeking a Satellite Communications Technician to support and maintain DoD and commercial SATCOM systems, including modems, baseband gear, and backup power systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate / Maintain various DoD and commercial satellite communications systems, modems and baseband equipment
- Perform preventive maintenance on electronic equipment
- Troubleshoot and repair communications system faults
- Prepare written reports as required
- Utilize electronic test equipment to troubleshoot serial and IP circuits
- Operate power backup systems including diesel generators and UPS
- Escort visitors as required
- Perform duties while standing and walking for extended periods
- Climb and work safely at various heights on antenna structures
- Operate effectively in outdoor environments, including inclement weather and confined spaces
- Lift and carry equipment or materials weighing up to 50 lbs. as required.
- Other duties as assigned
- Fluency in English (written and spoken)
- Must be a US Citizen with an Active Secret Clearance with the US Government
- Must have a valid Driver’s License with good driving history
Education
- High School Diploma or GED Required
- Military satellite communications SHF and/or EHF operator course or equivalent accredited college/commercial education/military experience as required.
Required Skills, Experience & Abilities
- 3 years’ experience in satellite communications equipment operations and maintenance required.
- Prior experience or demonstrated familiarity with Department of Defense (DoD) satellite communication operations.
- Familiar with basic computer network operations
Preferred Qualifications
- CompTIA A , Network , Security certifications desired Professionalism and positive attitude in workplace interactions
- Knowledge of U.S. Navy CMS program.
- Knowledge of U.S. Navy 3M program.
