What are the responsibilities and job description for the Car Detailer / Porter position at NextDrive?
About the role
NextDrive Chicago is a fast-paced dealership located in Westchester, IL, and we're looking for a reliable and detail-oriented Car Detailer/Porter to join our team full-time. In this role, you'll play a key part in making sure every vehicle on our lot looks its absolute best — from new arrivals to customer trade-ins and sold units ready for delivery.
What you'll do
- Wash, vacuum, and detail vehicle interiors and exteriors to showroom standards
- Apply wax, polish, and protective coatings as needed
- Clean and dress tires, wheels, and engine compartments
- Move and position vehicles on the lot as directed (portering)
- Pick up and drop off vehicles at customer locations, auctions, and other dealerships as needed
- Inspect vehicles before and after detailing and report any damage
- Prepare sold vehicles for customer delivery
- Maintain a clean and organized detail bay and supply area
- Assist the service and sales teams with vehicle readiness
Requirements
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record (required)
- Prior automotive detailing experience (required)
- Ability to operate both manual and automatic transmission vehicles
- Strong attention to detail and pride in quality work
- Ability to work in varying weather conditions outdoors
- Reliable, punctual, and a team player
Compensation & benefits
- $16–$25 per hour, based on experience
- Full-time, Monday–Saturday schedule
