Become a Key Player as a Materials Planner
As a Materials Planner, you will own backlog and material flow from order entry through shipment to help the team meet production schedules and on-time delivery. You will coordinate with contracts, purchasing, receiving, shipping, and production planners to remove bottlenecks and improve visibility. This role is primarily onsite in an office/warehouse environment, working a daytime shift (1st shift, 5x8 days).
Here's How You'll Make an Impact on the Team
- Maintain control of the sales/order backlog and act on order issues to ensure timely shipment
- Liaise with contracts to load new sales orders and confirm lead-times and delivery notes
- Prioritize material handling from receipt through shipment based on schedule needs
- Coordinate purchasing and planning of materials to meet the production schedule; place and expedite purchase orders
- Review and act on MRP order messages; generate work orders and issue purchase orders per MRP
- Negotiate deliveries and prices consistent with schedule requirements
- Identify potential late deliveries and create recovery plans; follow through on expedites and special requests
- Translate production plans into specific time schedules and monitor manufacturing processes to meet targets
Here's What You'll Need to Be Successful in This Role
- Bachelor's degree (required)
- 2–4 years of planning experience and 5 years in production control/materials or inventory management in a defense or aerospace environment
- Proven MRP/ERP experience (past MRP/ERP experience is a must)
- Strong planning, organizational, and prioritization skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel and computerized MRP systems
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to interact professionally with management, peers, suppliers, and customers
- Ability to interpret diagrams, graphs, and schedules and to apply sound judgment to solve problems

- General knowledge of machine shop practices and processing standards
- Familiarity with military and commercial standards
Pay Range
$48.24 - $60.30/hour
