Next Vision Athlete (NVA) is dedicated to developing basketball players through high-quality skills training in a structured, positive, and athlete-centered environment. We are seeking motivated and enthusiastic Basketball Skills Instructors who are committed to developing young athletes while creating a fun, challenging, and professional learning environment.

Position Summary

Next Vision Athlete is hiring Basketball Skills Instructors to lead small-group training sessions for:

  • Beginner Level: Boys and girls ages 8–12
  • Advanced Level: Competitive High School Athletes (JV, Varsity, and AAU)

This position is offered as an Independent Contractor and is compensated on an hourly basis.

Instructors who consistently demonstrate outstanding coaching ability, professionalism, reliability, and athlete development may be offered opportunities to continue coaching with Next Vision Athlete during future Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer programs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead organized basketball training sessions using the Next Vision Athlete curriculum.
  • Teach proper basketball fundamentals including:
    • Ball handling
    • Passing
    • Shooting mechanics
    • Footwork
    • Finishing
    • Defensive fundamentals
  • Deliver age-appropriate instruction that matches the skill level of each athlete.
  • Create an energetic, positive, and disciplined training environment.
  • Provide individualized coaching and constructive feedback to help athletes improve.
  • Encourage teamwork, confidence, sportsmanship, accountability, and strong work ethic.
  • Maintain a safe environment during all training activities.
  • Arrive prepared and on time with organized practice plans.
  • Track athlete progress and communicate observations with NVA leadership.
  • Represent Next Vision Athlete professionally when interacting with athletes, parents, and fellow coaches.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Previous experience coaching or training basketball players.
  • Strong knowledge of basketball fundamentals and player development.
  • Experience working with:
    • Beginner athletes (ages 8–12), and/or
    • Competitive high school basketball players.
  • Ability to teach athletes with varying skill levels.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Positive attitude and professional demeanor.
  • Reliable, punctual, and organized.

Preferred Qualifications

  • College or professional playing experience.
  • Experience coaching AAU, middle school, or high school basketball.
  • Previous experience providing private or small-group basketball instruction.
  • CPR and First Aid certification (preferred).
  • Ability to successfully complete a background check.

Compensation

  • Competitive hourly pay based on coaching experience and qualifications.
  • Opportunities to coach additional clinics, camps, private lessons, and future seasonal programs based on performance and athlete demand.

Schedule

Typical coaching availability includes:

  • Weekday evenings
  • Additional clinics and camps throughout the year

Schedules are assigned based on athlete enrollment and program needs.

Independent Contractor Information

This position is classified as an Independent Contractor.

Coaches are responsible for managing their own tax obligations and any applicable insurance requirements. Coaching assignments are based on seasonal programming and enrollment.

Outstanding performance, professionalism, and commitment to athlete development may result in contract renewals and expanded coaching opportunities across multiple seasons.
