What are the responsibilities and job description for the Day Shelter General Worker position at Next Step Homeless Services?
General Description of Position: Assist in general daily tasks of day shelter such as:
Assist with serving meals to clients every day
Unload supplies and donations (must be able to lift 50lbs)
Assist with de-escalating conflict that may occur in shelter
Assist clients with locating public services to meet their individual needs.
Answer phones and relay messages and information to clients and other staff.
Assist with daily shelter tasks such as cleaning and organization of supplies and donations.
Assist with end of day cleaning such as vacuuming, taking out trash, and cleaning tables and chairs.
Schedule:
Monday-Friday 8:00am to 3:00pm
Requirements:
Must be able to lift up to 50lbs.
Must be able to speak professionally and write legibly.
Must be customer service-oriented and friendly.
Must be able to work with a diverse population of people who often have complex needs.
Qualifications:
High School graduate or GED equivalent.
Must have valid drivers license and transportation.
Job Type: Full-time
