Director of Business Development & Marketing

A growing professional services firm is seeking a Director of Business Development & Marketing to lead relationship development, market strategy, and growth efforts across Virginia and North Carolina.

This is a highly visible role for someone who enjoys building relationships, identifying opportunities, and helping shape where a business goes next. You’ll work closely with leadership to strengthen existing client relationships, develop new ones, manage strategic pursuits, and position the firm for long-term growth.

What You’ll Do

• Build and maintain relationships with clients, prospects, and strategic partners
• Identify new business opportunities and help expand existing accounts
• Represent the firm at client meetings, conferences, and industry events
• Provide market intelligence and help guide growth strategy
• Lead and coordinate RFP, RFQ, and proposal pursuits
• Partner with leadership and technical teams on business development initiatives
• Support overall marketing strategy and client-facing materials

What We’re Looking For

• Business development and/or marketing experience within a professional services environment
• AEC, architecture, engineering, or construction experience strongly preferred
• Experience with relationship-driven business development
• Familiarity with RFPs, RFQs, proposals, and formal pursuit processes
• Strong communication, relationship-building, and strategic thinking skills
• Ability to balance big-picture strategy with hands-on execution
• Willingness to travel regularly throughout Virginia and North Carolina

Location

This is a hybrid/remote opportunity depending upon location. Candidates should be located near Williamsburg, VA or Raleigh, NC, with flexibility outside of client meetings and travel.
