What are the responsibilities and job description for the Systems Engineer position at Next Perimeter?
About Next Perimeter:
Next Perimeter is a leading cloud-first cybersecurity provider specializing in zero trust architecture and protection against modern-day threats, whether in-office or remote. We leverage cutting-edge technologies like Intune, Windows, and Microsoft 365 to deliver security and optimization settings to devices, ensuring a modern desktop experience for our clients.
The Role:
As a Systems Engineer, you'll operate at the intersection of engineering, project delivery, and sales enablement. You'll play a critical part in preparing, validating, and executing client projects-from early discovery and technical scoping to configuration, deployment, and post-project stabilization. You will also collaborate closely with our Sales and Account Management teams to ensure that proposals are technically accurate, standards-aligned, and positioned for successful delivery.
This is an ideal role for someone with a strong systems background who wants to grow into deeper engineering work while directly influencing project quality and client experience.
What You'll Be Doing:
Your work will begin before projects even kick off. You'll perform technical discovery to verify device inventories, identity configurations, licensing needs, domain dependencies, and baseline readiness. You'll identify risks and blockers early, ensuring the Sales and Project teams have the clarity they need to scope work correctly and avoid misalignment. You'll also review incoming requests for signs of technical drift, unsupported technology, or hidden dependencies that could affect project timelines or pricing.
Once projects begin, you'll support execution by handling scoped technical tasks, including mailbox or SharePoint migrations, identity and conditional access changes, Intune configuration deployments, workstation baseline enforcement, and secure reconfiguration work. You'll collaborate with project stakeholders to ensure prerequisites are met, configurations follow blueprint standards, and deliverables are implemented cleanly and predictably. Throughout the project lifecycle, you'll document your findings, maintain structured communication, and ensure nothing slips through the cracks.
On the sales enablement side, you'll lend your technical expertise to support accurate quoting and solution design. You'll validate environmental requirements for new opportunities, confirm whether a prospect's technology aligns with our modern blueprint, and provide input on what work will actually be required to bring them onto our platform. You'll help Sales identify technical debt, remediation needs, or non-standard systems that may impact cost or timeline, ensuring our proposals are grounded in real technical constraints, not assumptions. Your role here is not selling; it's ensuring that every commitment we make is technically feasible, standards-aligned, and fully understood before work begins.
What We're Looking For:
We're looking for someone with one to two years of experience in a systems or infrastructure support role who is ready to take the next step into engineering and project work. You should be comfortable working in Microsoft 365, Intune, identity-driven environments, and secure workstation configurations. You need to be structured, accountable, and able to translate technical findings into clear documentation and actionable insights. Experience supporting project deliverables, performing technical discovery, validating requirements, or collaborating with sales or account management teams is valuable, but not required. Most importantly, you should bring curiosity, consistency, and the confidence to flag misalignments when something doesn't look right.
What We Offer:
We offer a competitive salary and benefits package, along with opportunities for career growth in cloud-first IT service delivery, automation, and cybersecurity. Our dynamic and supportive work environment is centered on operational excellence, providing employees with the tools and resources needed to succeed. Additionally, team members gain hands-on experience with cutting-edge security and lifecycle management technologies, ensuring they stay at the forefront of industry advancements. Lastly, you'll enjoy unlimited vacation, sick leave, and access to our Employee Assistance Program to support your well-being.
Why Join Next Perimeter:
You'll be joining a company that's redefining what IT should look like for modern, cloud-first organizations. We don't patch together tools or rely on legacy thinking. Instead, we offer our clients a zero-fuss experience with clear standards, secure environments, and support that just works. Internally, you'll be part of a team that values precision, documentation, and professionalism-and you'll have the opportunity to grow into deeper engineering work over time.
What Your Schedule Will Be:
This is an in-office role, Monday through Friday, from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM. After successful completion of Next Perimeter's 90-day introductory period, you may choose one recurring work-from-home day each week.
Salary : $80,000 - $90,000
