Heavy Equipment Operator

Seeking an experienced operator with a strong background in underground utilities, site work, and excavation. Must safely and efficiently operate and maintain heavy machinery, follow safety protocols, and ensure tasks are completed accurately and on time to support project goals.

Job Duties – Heavy Equipment Operator

• Operate heavy machinery for tasks like digging, lifting, grading, and material handling
• Excavate, grade, pour concrete, and assist with structure building
• Read and follow blueprints, site plans, diagrams, and grading specs
• Ensure proper leveling, drainage and soil preparation
• Maintain equipment in good working condition and report any issues
• Follow all safety and company procedures and regulations
• Communicate with team members and other contractors for smooth workflow
• Train new operators on safe equipment use and care
• Follow instructions from supervisors and adapt to changing job needs
• Complete work efficiently and on schedule

Experience and Knowledge

• Experience operating heavy machinery like excavators, loaders and graders and reading GPS
• Strong understanding of underground utility work and excavation (water, sewer, storm, fire lines, sit grading, reading surveys stakes and grading plans, digging around utilities)
• Basic equipment maintenance knowledge
• Strong attention to detail and safety awareness
• High school diploma or GED and a valid driver’s license

Physical Requirements

• Ability to operate heavy machinery, often for extended periods
• Must have good hand-eye coordination, mechanical skills, and physical strength and stamina
• Ability to lift and move heavy objects
• Willingness to work in inclement weather
• Work on the ground to assist crew when needed
• Physically fit and able to work in all weather conditions
