What are the responsibilities and job description for the 1st Shift Material Handler position at Next Level Staffing?
Position Summary
This position coordinates both shipping and receiving parts for customer orders, ensuring accuracy and quality. It
also involves boxing, handling, and palletizing doors and other products in preparation for shipment.
Essential Functions
• Take finished door panels from assembly tables and process through panel wrapper.
• Ensure correct labeling for products in boxes or plastic wrap.
• Maintain availability of boxes and shipping materials to sustain production line flow.
• Assist assemblers in turning over doors
• Follow instructions from Logistics or Dock Supervisor.
• Match up products from different production lines.
• Operate pneumatic, battery-powered, and manual hand tools, including tape measures.
• Lift and move packages
• Palletize, package, load, and offload freight using pallet jacks and forklifts.
• Move freight using manual or motorized equipment, including forklifts.
• Be prepared to work overtime with short notice.
• Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
• Proficient in reading prints and utilizing measuring equipment like tape measures and scales, including
decimals and fractions.
• Demonstrates dependability, responsibility, and a team-oriented mindset.
• Maintains organization, learns quickly, and keeps work area productive.
• Capable of following instructions from supervisors and adapting to different work areas.
• Flexible to work in various areas of manufacturing.
• Able to be forklift certified.
Education, Training, Experience
• High school diploma or GED is required.
Working Conditions and Physical Demands
Work is performed in a factory with exposure to extreme weather conditions; noisy, dusty, and dirty
environments; and motorized equipment that pose potential safety hazards. Long periods of standing, as well as
regularly walking, sitting, lifting, reaching, and bending, are required. Regularly lifting up to 50 lbs is required.
Proper safety procedures, lifting techniques, and personal protective equipment are always required. This position
may require extended hours and overtime depending on business needs.
