The Accounts Payable Manager will be passionate about transforming the AP operations through automation, process optimization, and technology adoption. This role will lead the AP function while driving initiatives that streamline workflows, improve efficiency, and modernize processes through the use of systems, automation tools, and emerging AI solutions. The ideal candidate will be highly systems-savvy with a proven track record of implementing new technologies, improving processes, and creating scalable, efficient AP operations.
This position can develop into an Accounting Manager opportunity while continuing to oversee Accounts Payable, and taking on responsibility across the General Ledger.
Responsibilities
- Lead and develop the AP team, fostering a culture focused on efficiency, innovation, and continuous improvement
- Oversee the end-to-end AP function including invoice processing, payment runs, reconciliations, and vendor management
- Identify opportunities to automate manual processes and streamline workflows to improve accuracy and efficiency
- Champion the implementation and optimization of AP systems, automation tools, and AI-enabled solutions within the accounts payable function
- Drive process improvement initiatives that enhance scalability, reduce manual intervention, and improve turnaround times
- Lead system upgrades, integrations, and implementation projects related to AP and operations
- Develop and monitor KPIs to measure process efficiency, automation impact, and team performance
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, policies, and regulatory requirements
- Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external vendors to support efficient operations
- Support month-end and year-end financial close processes related to payables
Requirements:
- Solid experience leading AP teams in a medium to large organization
- Highly systems-oriented with strong technology and automation capability
- Demonstrated experience implementing Accounts Payable systems, automation tools, and workflow improvements
- Hands-on experience with modern ERP platforms that incorporate automation and AI capabilities, such as Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, NetSuite or Sage Intacct
- Experience with systems such as Ramp and Bill.com
- Experience driving digital transformation or automation initiatives within Accounts Payable
- Familiarity with AI-enabled tools, intelligent automation, or data-driven process improvements is highly regarded
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to identify inefficiencies and implement scalable solutions
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
- A continuous improvement mindset with a passion for modernizing Accounts Payable operations
