Position Summary
We are seeking an organized and detail-oriented Onboarding Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will be the primary point of contact for new merchants during the setup and approval process—ensuring a smooth, timely, and accurate onboarding experience.
You'll work closely with our support, underwriting, and sales departments to guide merchants through account setup, resolve issues, review risk indicators, and communicate updates clearly and professionally.
The ideal candidate is analytical, a strong communicator, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and enjoys helping businesses start and grow.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the main point of contact for new merchants throughout onboarding
- Manage onboarding communication via phone, email, and portal updates
- Collect, review, and validate required documentation for account approval
- Work with legal business documents (entity filings, ownership structures, compliance documents, etc.)
- Perform basic risk review, identify potential red flags, and relay concerns to underwriting.
- Coordinate with internal teams to ensure fast and accurate processing
- Assist merchants with account changes, updates, and additional service requests
- Educate merchants on payment processing tools, features, and best practices
- Troubleshoot onboarding issues and escalate as needed
- Maintain accurate records and adhere to compliance guidelines
Qualifications
- Experience in credit card processing, merchant or financial services, account onboarding, banking, underwriting, customer support, or related roles preferred
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail
- Able to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Positive, professional, and customer-focused attitude
- Experience reviewing legal business documents preferred
- Background in underwriting or risk management is a plus
