SAP Finance Data Analyst | SAP S/4HANA | Central Finance | Financial Reporting Support
Location: Houston, TX (5 days onsite/week)
Term: 12 Months contract
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced SAP Finance Data Analyst to support enterprise financial reporting and analytics initiatives within a complex SAP environment. This role is focused on troubleshooting financial data issues, performing root cause analysis, reconciling finance data, and partnering with Finance, Data Engineering, Analytics, and Architecture teams to ensure accurate financial reporting.
The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in SAP Finance processes, Income Statement and Balance Sheet reporting, SAP ECC and S/4HANA data structures, and financial data reconciliation. This is not a heavy SAP configuration role; instead, the focus is on understanding financial data flows, identifying reporting discrepancies, and guiding technical teams toward resolution.
Key Responsibilities
Investigate and resolve financial reporting and data quality issues across SAP ECC, S/4HANA, and related reporting platforms.
Analyze Income Statement, Balance Sheet, and other financial reports to identify data discrepancies and inconsistencies.
Trace financial reporting issues back to source transactions, SAP tables, documents, integrations, and business processes.
Perform root cause analysis and provide recommendations for issue resolution.
Partner with Finance, Data Engineering, Analytics, and Architecture teams to support financial data products and reporting solutions.
Validate, reconcile, and monitor financial data movement across enterprise systems.
Support production environments and assist with defect management as reporting platform adoption grows.
Provide guidance to technical teams regarding SAP finance data structures, accounting transactions, and reporting relationships.
Ensure consistency and integrity of financial data used for analytics and decision-making.
Required Qualifications
8 years of SAP Finance experience supporting financial reporting, analytics, or data management initiatives.
Strong understanding of:
Income Statement reporting
Balance Sheet reporting
Financial accounting principles
Financial data reconciliation
Experience working with SAP ECC and/or SAP S/4HANA Finance environments.
Proven ability to troubleshoot finance data issues and perform root cause analysis.
Strong knowledge of SAP financial documents, transactions, and reporting structures.
Experience working with cross-functional teams including Finance, Data Engineering, Analytics, and Architecture.
Ability to translate business reporting issues into actionable technical investigations.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with SAP Central Finance (CFIN).
Understanding of financial data movement between SAP systems and reporting platforms.
Experience extracting and reconciling data from Central Finance environments.
Knowledge of Universal Journal, ACDOCA, and financial reporting data structures.
Exposure to Snowflake, enterprise data warehouses, or modern analytics platforms.
Experience supporting data products, analytics solutions, and financial reporting ecosystems.
Familiarity with financial data modeling and reporting architecture.
Desired Background
Candidates who have supported finance reporting, analytics, data warehouse, or enterprise reporting environments will be highly preferred over candidates whose experience is primarily focused on SAP configuration and implementation activities.
