What are the responsibilities and job description for the Field Training Specialist position at Next Level Burger?
Field Training Specialist
Location: Field-based / Multi-unit travel required (region to be discussed) Job Type: Full-Time Department: Operations / Training Reports To: Director of Operations
About the Role
We're looking for an experienced, hands-on Field Training Specialist to join our growing restaurant operations team. This role is built for someone who has run a restaurant at a high level and wants to take that expertise on the road — coaching, training, and supporting General Managers and their teams across multiple locations.
You'll spend the majority of your time in-store, working side-by-side with existing teams to reinforce standards, close skill gaps, and ensure every location operates at the level our brand and our guests expect. This is not a desk job — it's a role for someone who thrives in fast-paced kitchens, enjoys teaching, and takes pride in leaving a location better than they found it.
What You'll Do
Training & Development
- Deliver hands-on, in-restaurant training to General Managers, Assistant Managers, Shift Leads, and crew members
- Onboard new General Managers and support them through their first 30/60/90 days
- Reinforce brand standards for food safety, quality, speed of service, and guest experience
- Train teams on new menu items, equipment, systems, and process rollouts
- Identify skill gaps through observation and shadowing, then build and deliver targeted coaching plans
- Certify GMs and shift leads on operational checklists and standard operating procedures
Operational Support (General Manager–Level Responsibilities) While on-site, you'll be expected to step into and model every core function of a General Manager, including:
- Full shift management: opening, mid-day, and closing procedures
- Labor scheduling, labor cost control, and shift staffing decisions
- Inventory management, ordering, receiving, and waste tracking
- Cash handling, deposits, and daily sales reporting
- P&L review and coaching GMs on how to manage their controllable costs
- Food safety, health code compliance, and sanitation standards
- Guest recovery and complaint resolution
- Hiring support, interviewing, and onboarding of new hourly employees
- Performance management coaching, including corrective action and recognition practices
- Ensuring compliance with labor law, safety protocols, and company policy
- Facilities and equipment troubleshooting, and escalation when needed
Multi-Unit & Travel
- Travel frequently to assigned locations (travel percentage to be discussed based on region and business need)
- Provide consistent support across a portfolio of restaurants rather than a single home location
- Act as a trusted extra set of hands for GMs during launches, leadership transitions, or periods of high turnover
- Report observations, risks, and training outcomes back to operations leadership
What We're Looking For
- 2 years of experience as a General Manager or equivalent multi-unit leadership role in a restaurant, QSR, or fast-casual environment
- Proven ability to train, coach, and develop hourly and management-level employees
- Deep working knowledge of restaurant operations: labor, inventory, food safety, guest service, and P&L management
- Comfortable being the "new face" walking into an existing team and quickly earning trust and credibility
- Excellent communication skills — able to give direct, constructive feedback with warmth and clarity
- Highly organized and self-directed; comfortable working with minimal daily supervision while on the road
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively, including occasional overnight travel
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation (or ability to travel via air as needed)
- Flexible schedule, including some evenings, weekends, and holidays as business needs require
Nice to Have
- Experience opening new restaurant locations
- Prior experience in a formal training, learning & development, or multi-unit support role
- Familiarity with restaurant scheduling, inventory, or POS systems
What We Offer
- Competitive salary, commensurate with experience
- Travel-related expenses covered
- Career growth path toward Training Leadership roles
- Comprehensive training and ongoing professional development
- Competitive Benefit Package
- Incentive Package including Bonus and Profit Sharing
Pay: $60,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
Benefits:
- 401(k)
- Dental insurance
- Retirement plan
Work Location: On the road
Salary : $60,000 - $75,000
