Director of Development

Next Generation Men & Women (Next Gen) is an education nonprofit dedicated to ensuring every student is prepared to seize the opportunities life has to offer. We partner with schools, youth-serving organizations, companies, and colleges to provide under-resourced Atlanta youth with meaningful exposure and support that prepares them for what comes next. Through this work, Next Gen builds a strong community of support that helps young people develop vision, access, and the tools to pursue college, career, and long-term success.

THE ROLE

As the Director of Development, you will drive strategic business development for Next Gen by designing, implementing, evaluating, and refining Next Gen’s fundraising activities. You will identify, pursue, and secure new individual, grant, foundation, and corporate partnerships. You will also serve as a primary steward of a diverse portfolio of existing donor and funder relationships. The Director of Development is responsible for managing relationships with local organizations that serve as pipelines for volunteers who participate during our monthly exposure experience trips and annual signature events. The Director of Development will align marketing and outreach efforts for multiple development initiatives within the organization. This individual will bring experience in sales, fundraising, partnership building, and relationship management to achieve revenue goals and support the sustainability and growth of Next Gen.

A SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT WILL HAVE:

Experience & Qualifications:

• At least five years of professional experience directly related to the job responsibilities specified
• Demonstrated experience in researching and writing proposals, reports, and other development-related communication materials
• Demonstrated ability in securing grants and gifts from individuals, foundations, corporations, and other private funding sources
• Demonstrated ability in planning and implementing long and short-range development initiatives
• Demonstrated organizational skills and experience in managing events in support of fundraising objectives

• Deeply passionate about Atlanta youth and community impact
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written; strong presentation skills
• Experience establishing smart, relevant goals and a relentless drive to meet those goals
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and effectively prioritize work
• Analytical, data-driven, and proficient user of customer relationship management systems
• Creative in designing and implementing effective marketing materials and activities
• Energy and enthusiasm to motivate and engage others
• Resourceful, innovative, and never turns down an opportunity to “get to yes.”
• Self-starter comfortable in an entrepreneurial and flexible work environment
