MORTGAGE LOAN ORIGINATOR (MLO) Colorado Springs Mortgage Company | A DBA of Next Gear Mortgage Company, Inc. Colorado Springs, Colorado | Remote / Hybrid / Office-Based The Opportunity We are recruiting motivated, relationship-driven Mortgage Loan Originators to help grow our independent mortgage business. This opportunity is designed for both established producers and developing MLOs who want flexibility, direct support, and the opportunity to build a long-term business.
Key Responsibilities • Develop and maintain referral relationships with real estate agents, builders, and other qualified business partners. • Dedicate approximately 75% of business-development time to building and strengthening real estate agent relationships, with an individualized plan based on experience and strengths. • Generate and manage mortgage loan opportunities from initial contact through closing. • Educate borrowers about suitable financing options, collect required documentation, and coordinate with processing and underwriting teams. • Maintain timely communications, accurate loan files, and compliance with applicable lending, advertising, privacy, and licensing requirements. • Participate in training, pipeline reviews, and business-development planning as appropriate.
Compensation and Long-Term Opportunity • 100% commission-based compensation; no guaranteed base salary under the current recruiting plan. • Commission split, support, production expectations, and individual goals will be discussed and documented for each candidate. • Potential opportunity to earn an ownership interest after meeting defined performance and tenure milestones, subject to a separate written agreement, company approval, and applicable law. Ownership is not automatic or guaranteed. • Potential to participate in future geographic expansion as the company grows.
Work Arrangement and Support • Work remotely, from the Colorado Springs office, or in a hybrid arrangement. • In-office training and mentorship may be available depending on experience and needs. • Individualized business-development expectations: experienced originators and newer MLOs will not necessarily follow the same plan.
Preferred Qualifications • Active NMLS registration and all required state mortgage loan originator licenses before conducting licensed activities. • Mortgage origination experience preferred, but motivated developing candidates may be considered. • Strong relationship-building, communication, organization, and follow-through skills. • Comfortable prospecting for referral relationships and independently managing a pipeline. • Commitment to ethical lending, customer service, and regulatory compliance.
