We’re looking for a passionate, motivated Assistant Dog Trainer to join our growing team. This role is ideal for someone who loves dogs, thrives in an active environment, and wants to grow their career in professional dog training. You’ll assist lead trainers in handling, caring for, and training dogs enrolled in our various programs while learning our proven methods step-by-step.
Responsibilities
- Assist lead trainers with daily training sessions, behavior modification, and socialization exercises.
- Feed, walk, clean, and care for dogs within the training facility or board-and-train program.
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe work environments following company safety standards.
- Document each dog’s progress accurately in our training management software.
- Communicate effectively with the training team to ensure consistent handling and progress tracking.
- Participate in ongoing education to learn Next-Door K9’s training systems, commands, and handling techniques.
- Support trainers during client handoffs, go-home sessions, and follow-up lessons.
Qualifications
- Must have a strong passion for working with dogs and a willingness to learn.
- Previous experience in dog handling, training, or animal care is preferred but not required.
- Ability to follow structured systems and instructions with attention to detail.
- Comfortable with physical, outdoor, and hands-on work in varying weather conditions.
- Excellent communication, reliability, and teamwork skills.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
