Role Description This is for a 6.5 hour/day, on-site Paraprofessional role based in Derry, NH. The Paraprofessional supports classroom teachers by assisting with instruction, guiding small group and one-on-one learning, and reinforcing academic and social-emotional skills. Responsibilities include helping implement individualized education plans, supporting students with diverse learning needs, and monitoring student progress and behavior in classrooms and common areas. The role also involves preparing instructional materials, assisting with classroom organization, and collaborating with educators and families to promote positive student outcomes. The Paraprofessional contributes to a safe, respectful school environment and participates in staff meetings and professional development as needed.
Qualifications
- Ability to support instruction through small-group work, one-on-one assistance, and reinforcement of teacher-led lessons.
- Skill in working with students with diverse academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs, including those with IEPs or 504 plans.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with teachers, staff, students, and families.
- Capacity to maintain a safe, inclusive, and respectful classroom environment and to manage student behavior constructively.
- Organizational skills for preparing materials, tracking student progress, and following school procedures and policies.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework or degree in education or related field preferred.
- Experience in a school or youth-focused setting preferred; willingness to engage in ongoing training and professional development.
- Ability to stand, walk, and actively engage with students throughout the school day and to follow all school safety and confidentiality guidelines.
