We’re looking for a hands-on Lab Manager to help drive product development, formulation, sample development, and pilot-scale production inside our growing operation.
About the Role
This is not a traditional management role.
This is a build-and-own position. You’ll be responsible for the day-to-day lab function across formulation, sample development, and pilot-scale manufacturing, while helping lay the foundation for a scalable operation.
What You’ll Own
This role sits at the center of everything we do, bridging concept → sample → pilot → production.
You’ll be responsible for:
R&D & Formulation
- Develop and refine skincare formulations (stock semi-custom)
- Modify formulas based on customer needs and performance targets
- Maintain formulation records, batch sheets, and technical documentation
Sample Development
- Prepare lab samples for internal and external customer evaluation
- Ensure consistency, speed, and quality across all samples
Pilot & Small-Scale Manufacturing
- Execute pilot batches and small production runs
- Support scale-up from lab to production
- Troubleshoot and optimize batch processes
Raw Material Sourcing
- Source and evaluate raw materials
- Coordinate supplier documentation (COAs, SDS, specs)
In-Process Testing & Quality
- Perform and document: Color, Odor, Appearance, Viscosity, pH, Specific Gravity, Etc.
- Ensure all batches meet internal standards
External Testing Coordination
- Manage third-party testing: Micro, Stability, PET, HRIPT, Etc.
- Track timelines and maintain organized records
GMP & Compliance
- Maintain a clean, organized, GMP-compliant lab
- Support SOP development, documentation, and traceability
Customer Collaboration
- Work directly with customers on formulation requests
- Provide technical insight during product development
What We’re Looking For
- 3–7 years in cosmetic formulation or skincare manufacturing
- Strong understanding of emulsions, actives, and raw materials
- Hands-on experience with pilot or small-batch manufacturing
- Experience working in a GMP environment
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and process-driven
- Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, build-stage environment
