Technical Rules and Standards Associate I
Job Overview
Nexiya is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented professional with strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills. This individual will fill the role of Technical Rules and Standards Associate I, providing crucial support to our client, a major utility company in their Kearny Mesa location. The Technical Rules and Standards Associate I evaluates, implements and maintains the organization's compliance with regulatory rules and standards for technical areas that include but are not limited to operations, planning, siting, Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP), reliability and safety. Maintains programs and procedures to ensure compliance with technical standards established by national, regional and local regulatory authorities, and prepares related regulatory filings and reports. Participates in audits, training, risk assessments and security reviews of compliance programs and takes actions to remediate noncompliance issues. Interacts with technical representatives from regulatory authorities and other energy market participants.

Roles and Responsibilities
- Assist in preparing compliance documentation for regulatory filings, including self-certifications, audit evidence packages, and supporting reports.
- Review operational logs, records, and technical data to verify compliance with reliability, security, and regulatory standards.
- Maintain compliance tracking systems, evidence repositories, and audit documentation files.
- Support internal and external audits by gathering, organizing, and validating required documentation against regulatory requirements and compliance checklists.
- Monitor updates to reliability, security, and technical standards and communicate relevant changes to team members and stakeholders.
- Participate in compliance-related training focused on technical rules, standards, security requirements, and regulatory obligations.
- Follow established procedures for evidence collection, reporting, and compliance documentation management.
- Assist with risk assessments, compliance reviews, and remediation tracking activities.
- Escalate potential compliance gaps, documentation deficiencies, or process concerns to senior team members for resolution.
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to support compliance initiatives and regulatory readiness.
- Perform other job duties as assigned.
Education/Experience Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Information Systems, Energy Management, Compliance, or a related field; equivalent combination of education and relevant experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in compliance, regulatory affairs, utilities, operations, reliability, security, auditing, or a related field.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to accurately review, organize, and maintain documentation.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a team player while supporting shared goals and objectives.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently under limited supervision and with urgency.
- Ability to quickly learn and develop a strong understanding of regulatory requirements, technical standards, and compliance processes.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and critical-thinking skills.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
- Experience with Power BI and/or Smartsheet is preferred.
- Experience supporting utility, energy, reliability, cybersecurity, or regulatory compliance programs is a plus.
- Must be highly organized and capable of maintaining accurate records and documentation.
- Must be able to successfully pass our background screening process.
- Candidate must be eligible to work in the United States.

Min: $27/hour
Max: $34/hour
