Job Summary
The Purchasing Specialist will play a key role in Nexiuum’s procurement operations, focusing on the acquisition of raw materials, packaging, and related components for nutraceutical products. This individual will support both domestic and international sourcing efforts, help maintain supply continuity, and ensure cost-effectiveness while adhering to quality and regulatory standards. The Specialist will collaborate closely with R&D, quality assurance, operations, and logistics to drive timely procurement and supply chain alignment.
Key Responsibilities
- Source, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers of raw materials, botanicals, nutraceutical ingredients, and packaging suppliers (containers, labels, pouches, etc.).
- Manage purchase requisitions and convert them into purchase orders, ensuring clarity in specifications, delivery schedules, and quality requirements.
- Assist in maintaining and expanding the supplier base, including vetting new international and domestic vendors, performing supplier audits or qualification processes.
- Creating supplier scorecard to measure and monitor supplier performance (on-time delivery, quality, cost) and take corrective actions or escalate issues when necessary.
- Track order status, expedite late deliveries, and ensure continuity of supply for critical production lines.
- Collaborate with quality assurance to align on material specifications, sampling, testing requirements, and regulatory compliance (e.g. GMP, NSF).
- Maintain accurate procurement records, cost tracking, and supplier data in CRM, PM and procurement software.
- Building out processes for purchasing procedures and SOP's.
- Support the development of cost-saving initiatives, total landed cost analyses, and supply chain optimization projects.
- Liaise with logistics, customs, and freight forwarders for international shipments to ensure smooth importation and compliance.
- Assist with inventory planning and collaborate with production or operations to optimize safety stocks and lead times.
- Participate in cross-functional meetings and provide procurement input into new product development or packaging changes.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 2–5 years of procurement, sourcing, or purchasing experience; experience in the nutraceutical, dietary supplements, or related consumer goods industry is preferred.
- Demonstrated experience with both domestic and international purchasing, including import/export, Incoterms, tariffs, and customs.
- Proficiency in Project Management and CRM platforms.
- Familiarity with Monday.com or similar project management software is highly preferred.
- Strong negotiation skills and supplier relationship management capabilities.
- Ability to interpret technical specifications, regulatory documents, and quality test results.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Detail-oriented, proactive, and able to work under deadlines.
- Ability to travel (domestic or international) occasionally for supplier visits or audits (if required).
Preferred / Nice-to-Have
- Experience specifically in nutraceuticals, dietary supplements, botanical extracts, or dietary ingredients.
- Experience in cost modeling, forecasting, or supply chain strategy.
- Multilingual or experience working with international suppliers (Asia, Europe, etc.).
- Exposure to sustainability sourcing, supplier ESG assessments, or certifications (e.g. organic, non-GMO, ISO).
