About Nexendo Wellness
Nexendo Wellness is a medically guided fitness program embedded within Endocrine Associates of West Village, an endocrinology practice in NYC. We help patients improve their health through evidence-based exercise, body composition analysis, metabolic testing, nutrition support, and close collaboration with medical providers.
Our model is different from a traditional gym. We work with patients who may have complex health needs, including metabolic conditions, obesity, osteoporosis, pre-diabetes, hormonal concerns including women's health, and other chronic health conditions. Our goal is to deliver safe, personalized, high-quality exercise programming within a clinical setting.
Position Overview
We are seeking a Medical Fitness Trainer (certified personal trainer with experience in health conditions/medicine) who is passionate about exercise science, patient care, and long-term health outcomes. This role is ideal for a trainer who wants to go beyond general fitness and work in a more clinical, evidence-based environment.
The trainer will work closely with our interdisciplinary team to provide individualized training sessions, support patient behavior change, perform movement and fitness assessments, and help patients safely build strength, function, confidence, and consistency.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain an active patient base through consistent outreach, relationship building, and high-quality service in a clinical wellness setting
- Design individualized exercise programs based on patient goals, medical history, movement quality, and fitness level
- Modify exercise appropriately for patients with injuries, orthopedic limitations, metabolic concerns, osteoporosis, and other chronic conditions
- Promote and convert medical personal training services through professional communication, fitness and movement assessments
- Track patient progress and adjust programs based on adaptation, function, symptoms, and goals
- Communicate professionally with providers and the wellness team regarding patient progress, concerns, and recommendations
- Deliver a high-touch, supportive, patient-centered experience that promotes accountability and retention
- Educate patients on exercise technique, recovery, consistency, and sustainable lifestyle habits
- Support program growth through excellent patient care, follow-up, and conversion from consultations to ongoing training
- Maintain accurate session notes and participate in team meetings, training, and program development
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or health-related field required
- Nationally recognized personal training certification required
- Experience working with special populations, older adults, or clinical populations strongly preferred
- CPR/AED certification required
- 2 years of personal training or strength coaching experience preferred
- Strong understanding of movement mechanics, resistance training, and exercise modifications
- Interest in evidence-based training and interdisciplinary care is highly valued
What Makes This Role Unique
- Work inside a medical practice, not a traditional gym
- Collaborate with medical providers, dietitians, and wellness professionals
- Train a population that truly benefits from expert, medically informed exercise guidance
- Be part of a growing program focused on long-term health outcomes, not quick fixes
- Opportunity to contribute to innovative specialty services, including evidence-based bone health and osteoporosis exercise programming
