Dining Services Supervisor Job Summary:
The Dining Services Supervisor supervises food services while ensuring resident satisfaction, quality care, regulatory agency compliance, and good public relations are achieved through the safe and efficient use of resources. The majority of your focus will be working/supervising service of the meals on the floors, interacting with residents, and enhancing programs and processes to help improve both the food and service experience.
The ideal candidate will train waitstaff, address and resolve guest concerns quickly and kindly, enforce company policies and closing procedures, and contribute to the overall success and efficiency of the dining department—including assisting with the setup of small catered events.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
The Dining Services Supervisor will be held accountable for competent care and quality services.
Nutrition, Health & Wellness
Ensure resident preferences and dietary needs are documented and staff are trained accordingly.
Conduct meal rounds, participate in monthly food committee meetings, and apply service recovery as needed to satisfy residents.
Partner with residents to provide necessary accommodations during meal services.
Help organize and set up small catered events as needed.
Regulatory & Safety
Adhere to facility confidentiality, HIPAA regulations, and patient rights policies.
Comply with federal, state, and accrediting agency standards as evidenced by successful completion of surveys with no deficiencies.
Follow infection control protocols and facility safety procedures.
Supervise and assist with meal service to ensure it meets resident dining standards.
Enforce company policies and closing procedures.
Support emergency preparedness and life safety practices.
Teamwork & Communication
Orient, mentor, and train staff across the department and community.
Participate in departmental meetings.
Collaborate on menu development with leadership.
Treat staff, direct reports, and residents as valued customers.
Proactively address and resolve guest concerns in a timely and respectful manner.
Supervisory
Plan and supervise resident dining and service.
Oversee scheduling, hiring, training, and performance management of dining service personnel.
Ensure consistent coverage for all service areas through proactive management.
Contribute to the community’s strategic goals and objectives related to food and nutrition services.
Perform additional tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
Previous experience in long-term care preferred, but not required.
Customer service training is a plus.
Language Skills:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business literature and technical procedures.
Proficient in writing reports, correspondence, and procedural documents.
Skilled in presenting information and responding to questions from staff, healthcare professionals, and residents.
