Job Description
Nexagen Networks is seeking a skilled SQL Database Administrator to support the CMP contract in Norfolk, VA. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in SQL Server database administration, performance tuning, security, and disaster recovery, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams
Position Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and maintain on-premises Microsoft SQL Server instances.
- Monitor database performance and optimize queries, indexes, and configurations.
- Implement and manage SQL backup, recovery strategies, and disaster recovery plans.
- Apply patches, updates, and service packs to SQL Server environments.
- Manage database security, roles, and permissions, ensuring compliance with policies.
- Experience with high availability solutions such as Always On, clustering, and replication.
- Perform regular audits, health checks, and data tagging/classification on SQL environments.
- Automate routine database tasks using PowerShell or SQL Agent jobs.
- Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues promptly.
- Collaborate with development and other technical teams on schema design and optimization.
- Document database architecture, processes, and procedures.
Qualifications
- 3 years of experience as a SQL Server DBA or similar role.
- Strong understanding of database architecture, administration, and security.
- Proficiency in T-SQL and PowerShell scripting.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience.
- CompTIA Security certification is required.
- Microsoft certifications (e.g., MCSA, MCSE, Azure Database Administrator Associate) are a plus.
- Active Secret Clearance preferred.
