About the Job
We are looking for a hands-on P&D Operations Manager / Business Contact to help run our FedEx Ground delivery operation serving Lake Orion and surrounding Oakland County areas.
You will work with drivers every day, manage routes and staffing, monitor safety and service, and help keep the operation running smoothly. This is a hands-on position, not a desk-only management role. You must also be able to drive a route 1-2 times per week or as needed when needed.
Compnsation
- Base: $60,000–$73,000 annual salary ($1150-$1400 weekly), based on experience .
- Up to $5,000 performance bonus
- Up to $78,000 total compensation
- Biweekly bonus based on safety, service, productivity and overall operational performance
Responsibilities
- Manage daily P&D operations, dispatch and route coverage
- Manage driver schedules, attendance, call-outs and staffing
- Monitor safety, service, and productivity
- Ensure all routes are dispatched on time each morning
- Monitor route progress and handle issues during the day
- Coordinate with FedEx station staff and management
- Coach drivers and address safety, service and performance issues
- Recruit, interview, train and support drivers
- Monitor vehicle readiness, maintenance and safety
- Handle route, staffing, vehicle and customer issues
- Drive a delivery route when needed for call-outs, training or operational coverage
- Help improve safety, service, productivity and driver retention
Requirements
- Good communication, organization and problem-solving skills
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
- Experience in package delivery, P&D, last-mile, transportation or logistics
- Experience supervising or managing drivers preferred
- Recent delivery/driving experience strongly preferred
- FedEx Ground P&D experience is a plus
- Experience with FedEx, UPS, Amazon DSP or another delivery operation is welcome
- FedEx pays for a drug screening and physical
- Able to drive a delivery route when needed
Schedule
- Full-time, including some weekend oversight
- Early mornings required (dispatch)
- On-call during delivery hours
