NewType Group is seeking a Microbiologist and Laboratory Technician for a contract to hire positions. NewType is a startup company developing the world's first scalable solution to the small plastics particulate crisis. The candidate will assist with laboratory experimentation and biological analysis of bacteria, both natural and engineered, for suitability in wastewater, soil, and industrial composting applications.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities will include the development and execution of NewType's Bacteria-as-a-Service roadmap and laboratory safety. The candidate will also assist in the design and construction of two new BSL-2 level BioTech laboratories at our Auburn, Washington headquarters. The role will require close collaboration with our academic and biotechnology partners.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Microbiology (or above) from a reputable institution.
Experience with bacterial characterization.
Training in bio safety and regulatory compliance.
Working with Primary Investigator on SBIR and STTR submissions.
Data analysis and interpretation.
Readiness to study and learn when knowledge gaps appear.
Preferred Skills [optional]
Experience using and designing procedures on HPLC (and other equipment).
Knowledge of polymers and their chemical properties.
Passion for environment and environmental safety.
Hybrid Role
Candidate will be expected to work 4 days a week at our Auburn, Washington headquarters and laboratory. 1 day remote, though additional days may be possible depending on project schedules.

Salary : $30 - $45
