Music Theory Instructor

Summary: Newton South High School is hiring a Music Theory Instructor to teach a semester long Honors Music Theory course. Candidates should have 3 years experience teaching a Theory class at the High School level.

Meeting times are as follows: Tuesdays 1:25-2:30, Thursdays 11:40-1:30, Fridays 2:30-3:45 beginning January 20th-June. 

This is a .1 Position.

Qualifications:

• Appropriate DESE teaching license, including SEI endorsement
• Ability to handle a multitude of varying and complex issues
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Ability to handle a multitude of varying and complex issues
• Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with numerous building stakeholders

Work Environment & Physical Requirements:

• Majority of work is performed in a school / classroom / performance hall environment.
• While performing the duties of this job, the teacher is frequently required to walk, stand, sit, talk, and hear. The teacher is regularly required to bend, stoop, crouch and/or kneel. The teacher is occasionally required to lift and/or move objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
