GENERAL DESCRIPTION (1-3 LINES DESCRIBING ROLE): |

|
The Russian teacher is responsible for delivering the curriculum at various levels through an immersion-type environment as well as for assessing student learning. The teacher is also expected to maintain open communication with parents and counselors/housemasters, contribute to the regular functioning and development of the World Language Department, attend meetings for students and teachers, attend to administrative duties, and fulfill other responsibilities/duties as a member of the broader community.

• Design and demonstrate differentiated instruction to meet the needs of all students. • Plan and deliver lessons using a variety of strategies • Develop a variety of assessments to evaluate student learning • Recommend students for placement • Write a variety of student-related reports (teacher comments, college recommendations, IEP assessments) • Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum, lesson and assessment design • Communicate effectively with students, colleagues, parents and the community • Perform Homeroom and Study Hall Duties

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: |

Work Environment: Work is generally performed in a school environment during the school day, however there may be occasions for afterschool meetings (ex: Back to School Night). Regular attendance is a necessary and essential function. Rarely absent or late unless the situation is of an emergency nature. Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the teacher is frequently required to walk, stand, sit, talk, and hear. The teacher is occasionally required to lift and/or move objects weighing up to 25 pounds. The teacher must have sufficient mobility to navigate within a large school building. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
