    Summary:


    The High School Scheduling and Data Specialist will be responsible for managing, analyzing, and visualizing data for a variety of audiences to meet Newton’s equity goals. The High School Scheduling and Data Specialist will also support the operational needs of the school by coordinating the building’s master schedule, state mandated assessments and other logistical tasks.

    Qualifications:


    Required Qualifications:
    • Bachelor’s Degree and/or relevant experience
    • Solid computer proficiency, particularly with spreadsheet and database programs, familiarity with pivot tables
    • Experience with Excel, Google Sheets, and Google Data Studio
    • Basic knowledge of SQL and/or willingness to learn
    • Experience working in an educational setting at the secondary or post-secondary level
    • Ability to resolve a multitude of varying and complex problem issues with timely follow-through
    • Strong project management skills and demonstrated project management experience
    • Very strong analytic and project management skills, as well as extremely strong attention to detail.
    • Ability and demonstrated experience facilitating user centered design processes, gathering and responding to feedback from users over the course of a project.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills
    • Strong interpersonal skills
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
    • Able to do basic statistical analysis


    Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities (Not Limited To):



    • Build and manage the master schedule
      • Analyze enrollment data to determine future class offerings
      • Coordinate room usage
      • Manage student schedule changes and the process used by counselors, teachers, department heads, and deans in supporting students
      • Manage new student registration and the development of a student’s schedule
    • Manage Flex Block Operations
      • Build the initial Flex Block schedule, including room allocation and teacher collaboration time
      • Support educators’ needs, including running special events and room usage
      • Provide professional development and ongoing support on MyFlexLearning software for all educators
      • Manage MyFlexLearning and the communication and data storage with Aspen.
    • Support Building-Level Operations
      • Manage registration and database for Family Teacher Conferences
      • Create schedules for various all-school screening or counseling programs
      • Coordinate schedules and room usage for special events
      • Serve as one of two district point people for MyFlexLearning software questions
    • Support District Information and Assessment Needs
      • Fulfill data requests from internal and external sources by extracting data from internal databases, including ad-hoc and recurring requests.
      • Collaborate with district Data Coordinator and other members of the district data team
      • Sit on various school and district committees to offer data analysis support for policy changes
    • Guide administration of federally mandated student assessments
      • Collaborate with Vice Principal on the management of state mandated assessments testing process (coordination of test materials, administration protocols and security requirements)
      • Track the completion of Competency Determination across high school students
    • Prepare Technical Reports
      • Prepare class size report for Annual Enrollment Report
      • Prepare MCAS data for analysis by administrators and teachers
      • Prepare high school data for internal and external presentations, including School Committee
      • Collaborate with school administrators on data analysis for the school
      • Generate reports for both technical and non-technical audiences
      • Build data visualizations to support administration and other building-level planning committees
      • Manage the collection of data for NPS dashboards across departments and schools
      • Develop and maintain Google Data Studio dashboards, including the ability to disaggregate metrics by relevant student groups to monitor opportunity and achievement gaps
    • Data Management
      • Manage student data records, including Aspen
      • Manage the collection of data for NPS dashboards across departments and schools
    • Other Duties
      • Other duties assigned by the Principal, Vice Principal, and Central Office Administration.
      • Consistent and on-time attendance is required


    Work Environment & Physical Requirements:


    Work Environment: Majority of work is performed in a school/classroom environment. The noise level in the environment is usually moderate.

    Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the High School Scheduling and Data Specialist frequently required to walk, stand, sit, talk, for extended periods of time. The High School Scheduling and Data Specialist regularly required to bend, stoop, crouch and/or kneel. The High School Scheduling and Data Specialist occasionally required to lift and/or move objects weighing up to 25 pounds. Ability to operate a computer and/or other standard office equipment. Must have sufficient mobility to navigate within a large school building.

Salary : $48,900 - $61,900
