Permanent Long Term Substitute Teacher (2026-27 School Year)

Newton USD #373 is looking for qualified individuals to help serve as a permanent long term substitute teacher for 2022-23. This position will be located at a specific school for the entire school year.

Qualifications

• Licensed in the State of Kansas
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the board of education may find appropriate and acceptable
  
  

REPORTS TO: BUILDING ADMINISTRATOR

JOB GOAL: To enable each child to pursue his education as smoothly and completely as possible in the absence of his regular teacher

Performance Responsibilities

• Reports to the building principal or school secretary upon arrival at the school building.
• Reviews with the principal or department head all plans and schedules to be followed during the teaching day.
• Maintains as fully as possible the established routines and procedures of the school and classroom to which he/she is assigned.
• Teaches the lesson outlined and described in the substitute teacher's guide as prepared by the absent teacher.
• Consults as appropriate, with the building principal or department head before initiating any teaching or other procedures not specified in the substitute teacher's guide.
• Follows all policies, rules, and procedures to which regular teachers are subject and which good teaching practice dictates.
• Writes a summary of the day's activities for the classroom teacher.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.
  
  

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the board's policy on evaluation of professional personnel.
