What are the responsibilities and job description for the Substitute School Nurse Pool position at Newton County Schools?
SUBSTITUTE SCHOOL NURSE
PRIMARY PURPOSE:
To provide health related services to students at assigned school(s) and assist with providing instruction for teachers and staff concerning various medical conditions/needs of students.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
- Accessible to students and staff when questions or concerns occur.
- Assist in hearing/vision/dental/nutrition screenings and follow-up as needed.
- Administration of medication to students.
- Coordinate with County School Nurse to participate in kindergarten registration.
- If assigned to a middle school, assist County School Nurse in the scoliosis
screening of middle school students.
- Assist County School Nurse in coordinating health fairs for students and/or faculty as requested.
- Assist County School Nurse in providing appropriate training to teachers and
staff in universal precautions, medical conditions and delegated medical procedures.
- Maintains records and reports for all students who have a health related
condition and provide assistance to students and/or parents as needed.
- Maintain a daily clinic log of student visits.
- Ensure that all schools use proper forms, permission slips, and schedules for
dispensing medication.
- Assist County School Nurse in the annual review of immunization records of
all students in pre-kindergarten, kindergarten, and sixth grades.
- Performs other duties as assigned by appropriate administrator.
