What are the responsibilities and job description for the Community Coach position at Newton County Schools?

If you would like more information about Community Coach opportunities at one of our schools, please contact the Athletic Director at the school where you are interested in coaching.
- Community Coaches must complete an application and background check prior to participating. Also, they must complete a coaches agreement form and return it to the school level athletic director
- Community Coaches must successfully complete the courses "PREPARE/First Aid" and "Coaching Principles," participate in a review of GHSA by-laws, and testing program. The school athletic department will pay for the required courses and tests.
- Community Coaches that have a teaching certificate issued by the Professional Standards Commission shall fill any coaching positions (head or assistant). They do not have to complete the GHSA "PREPARE/First Aid" and "Coaching Principles" courses.
- Community Coaches must attend GHSA rules clinic in the sport(s) they coach as required of others on the staff, or the school will be fined.
- Community Coaches may not coach out of season with any community team that has one or more students from the GHSA member school at which that person coaches on that team.
